I said I'd try to post this sooner or later. Guess tonight's the night! Anyways, as I said in my last post, I'm officially a brony, and this kinda solidified it for me!
The idea behind the tattoo (aka, y it no look like actual Rainbow Dash cutie mark). When I first started watching the show, the first two episodes constantly kept me intrigued. I was drawing up different tattoo designs for myself around the time, and had thought about doing a pony one. One of the things I had always wondered was, what would have happened if Dash had decided to turn her back on her friends and joined the Shadow Bolts? Would it have changed her cutie mark?
That's when I came up with this. The cloud is done up like a storm cloud, with the lightning bolt done in grayscale and the outline of the bolt done in the three colors that normally are on her cutie mark (red and blue, converging into yellow at the tip). So, yeah. I thought it was pretty awesome, and the artist did a much better job than I thought it was gonna be. I may hafta eventually get a few touch ups here or there, but I'm pretty happy with the results. It's a constant reminder of my loyalty to my friends and family.
Not so happy with the other tattoo I got. I had already decided on the tattoo I was getting for my daughter. A crescent moon around the ankle (I had meant it to look kinda like the Dreamworks moon, but in a harvest moon palette). The crescent moon is a pretty good tribute to my daughter, given that her name is Serena, and I did originally get her name from watching waaaaaaay too much Sailor Moon when I was younger. Unfortunately, the color palettes used for the tattoo ink didn't turn out so well. So now rather than having an awesome harvest crescent moon tattoo, I have a tattoo that looks like a weird scar that just happens to be in the shape of a crescent moon. T_T I wanted to cry once it was completely healed! Oh well, you live and learn. It'll still be a great reminder of my daughter while I'm away.
Anywho, thanks for looking! Ciao!
